Mom's Big Eastern Star Homecoming Event
I have to admit that I come from a very Masonic family. You can go back on both sides and see how our family is rich in Masonic history. If you are not familiar with the Masonic orders they all are very good people doing great things for their community. (Much the same way those of us who work and support the GLBT community) No they are not cults, or strange people. I have always been very proud of my family and their involvement with the Masonic bodies.
Then why am I not a Mason? Well that is a long story, I have always marched to the beat of my drum and realized that I can make my impact helping others in different ways. From early on I have been involved in service organizations. In 7th grade I was the moderator at JCC for a forum with what was then Project CARE. I am proud of the service I have given to my community, I just gave in differently.
Now Mom was wrapping up her last tour for the grand chapter of the state of New York and this was her send off party.
Mom presenting her "partner in crime" Quinton with a few goodies
Now I am not sure why he was giving her a roll of toilet paper....Hmm well they did do a lot of traveling over the last year. Gee my Dad seems to think it's funny!
So does Mom
As you can tell, while they do many a serious things in the Mount Sinai-Mecca chapter of the OES, this was not one of those serious moments.
You know in another time and another place she could be telling him to "Smoke This"! ... LOL!!!
Now this was the first time I ever saw my Mom in her element like this. Now I have and have no problem getting up in front of a thousand people, speaking and if need be winging an entire spiel. (After all who wrote the book for the Audience Greeting Program for AMC Theatres????) But I was so amazed and proud of my Mom that night. I know that both of my parents have had to speak in front of hundreds before, but this night I did realize that I got my speaking skills, wit, and stage presence from both of them.
And you though it taught to me at Little Theatre!
Myself, Mom, Dad, My Aunt Pat and Uncle Doug were able to attend the event.
